Challenge

In today’s competitive landscape, technical skills are no longer the sole factor driving success. The leadership at a senior living organization realized that emotional intelligence (EQ) was a critical missing link in their operations, from managing team dynamics to improving resident interactions. The challenge was to cultivate EQ across the organization to foster deeper connections and greater efficiency, ultimately impacting the bottom line.

The Gameplan

ADage Marketing Group partnered with Friends House to execute a strategic digital transformation. This included:

  • EQ Training for Key Personnel: Sent 25 organizational leaders to the EQMatters intensive, where they learned how to leverage emotional intelligence in leadership, team management, and resident engagement.
  • Cultivating Emotional Intelligence: Focused on helping attendees develop soft skills such as empathy, self-awareness, and effective communication, which are critical for improving interactions with staff, residents, and families.
  • Exponential Ripple Effect: Designed the program with scalability in mind, ensuring the participants’ newfound EQ skills would influence not only their direct colleagues but also the larger community of residents, families, and external contacts.

Creative Implementation

ADage’s program demonstrated the transformative potential of emotional intelligence within the senior living environment:

  • EQ Integration Across Teams: Equipped participants with tools to manage discomfort, foster internal reflection, and develop solutions that enhance collaboration and resident care.
  • Scalable Impact: With each of the 25 participants directly impacting over 9,000 lives through their professional and personal networks, the organization saw immediate and far-reaching changes.
  • Data-Driven Results: The focus shifted from traditional metrics to people-centered growth, helping the organization tap into the full potential of its workforce and foster a more connected, engaged community.

Results & Impact

The emotional intelligence initiative produced substantial, measurable improvements in organizational culture and outcomes:

  • Enhanced Staff Engagement: Employees reported increased job satisfaction and teamwork, leading to greater efficiency and improved workplace morale.
  • Stronger Resident Connections: EQ-trained staff developed deeper relationships with residents, enhancing trust and overall satisfaction.
  • Broader Community Impact: With the ripple effect extending to family members and external contacts, nearly 9,000 lives were positively influenced by the EQ-driven approach.

Summary

A senior living organization recognized the need to enhance emotional intelligence (EQ) across its teams to improve interactions and organizational efficiency. Partnering with ADage Marketing Group, they implemented the EQMatters program, a two-day intensive for 25 leaders, focusing on empathy, self-awareness, and effective communication. The training created a positive ripple effect, enhancing teamwork and resident relationships while reaching over 9,000 lives in their extended community. This EQ-driven approach boosted staff morale, resident trust, and overall organizational impact, demonstrating the power of people-centered growth.

"It is impossible for me to recommend Adrienne and Diana, co-founders of ADage Marketing Group, highly enough. Can a senior living marketing agency be both cutting edge and "throwback" at the same time? Cutting edge, in the sense that they are on the forefront of all things related to successful senior living marketing and lead generation, and "throwback" in that they provide the kind of outstanding customer centered service that seems to be a thing of the past.”
